South African actress Baby Cele’s farewell to Zoleka Mandela left many fans in tears.

Author and activist Zoleka Mandela has died at the age of 43. Nelson Mandela’s granddaughter was fighting metastatic cancer.
A media statement has been released by the family spokesperson, Zwelabo Mandela.
“On Monday, September, 18th, Zoleka Mandela was admitted into hospital for ongoing treatment for metastatic cancer to the hip, liver, lung, pelvis, brain and spinal cord.
Recent scans revealed significant disease progression including fibrosis in the lungs as well as several emboli.
Zoleka passed away in the evening of Monday, September, 25th, surrounded by friends and family.

Zoleka lost her life to cancer, but her story would inspire many generations.

The talented writer survived breast cancer twice before she was diagnosed with cancer in her lungs, liver, ribs, spinal cord, brain and hips.

Despite such terrifying news, Zoleka remained vigilant and hopeful until her last day.

The Mandela family made a statement on her death on Tuesday, 26 September 2023.

“Zoleka passed away on the evening of Monday, 25 September. surrounded by friends and family. Our sincerest gratitude to the medical team that took care of her,” read the statement.

Sharing on her Instagram, Baby Cele showed how much she found inspiration from Zoleka.

Woke up to the sad news of your passing…yaze yabuhlungu inhliziyo yami , rest well My Beloved Queen 🕯🕯🕊🕊💔💔” she said.

After her post, many celens like Natasha Thahane also had a few words to the late Zolake.
