He was born on the 23rd of December 1972 in Soweto which is located in Gauteng, South Africa. He was fully named Somizi Buyani Mhlongo by is late mother who was an actor Mary Twala and his decreased father Ndaba Mhlongo.

Somizi was born by two parents who were in the entertainment industry so it not surprising to see why Somizi has so much love for the entertainment industry, he became popular at the age of 13 years ,he became popular by the movie he first acted in which is titled Scavengers a 1978 film.
