Kelly Khumalo dumps gig over Somizi

Kelly Khumalo has taken down a very lucrative offer just to support his best friend forever, Somizi Mhlongo.


 

 

 

Durban- Talk about real friendship goals, Kelly Khumalo has shown us what true friendship is. You just do not compromise when it comes to friendship, you stand for what you believe in, your best friend comes first and you do not allow any obstacle to stand in the way.

Somizi has shown us to stand for what you believe in against all odds and this has led to him acquiring support from fellow South Africans including his friend, Kelly Khumalo.

The former Idols SA judge had been scheduled to make an appearance in Zimbabwe at the reopening of the top restaurant on Thursday (4 November). However, he met an unfortunate situation as he was blocked from coming to that country by Zanu-PF Youth Alliance and certain church council.

They raised points that homosexuality is not welcomed in Zimbabwe and Somizi should not set his foot there.

We learnt that the restaurant decided to book Kelly Khumalo to replace Somgaga. However, Kelly decided to stand in solidarity with her froend who was ostracised due to his sexuality.

Mzansi Celebrity News understands that Mandy Mvukwe Chimhini,confirmed to TshisaLIVE that they have booked the Empini hitmaker to replace Somizi.

Kelly’s manager Khothatso Tsotetsi said that Kelly received the same booking after Somizi’s cancellation. However, she had no idea what led to Somizi being blocked when they were initially approached.

He added by saying that they decided to decline the offer when they learnt of the fate of Somizi’s cancellation.

On Wednesday, Somizi took to Instagram and shared a video where he explained how disheartened he was that he was shunned because of his sexuality, he added that je would not stop speaking for the LGBTQI+ community.

“This is not the first time that this happens to me…them telling me not to go, it wont change the sexuality of those people…you not wanting me foe being me…I will not stop to speak on these issues.”

Later on in Thursday, Somizi was on a flight to Namibia where he was booked to be it. He took to Instagram and posted a video of how God has opened another door.
