A multi-award-winning filmmaker who grew up in the North West Province’s magnificent city of Rustenburg and now lives in Johannesburg, South Africa. Ofentse’s love for film and photography began in 2005, when he enrolled at AFDA (The South African School of Motion Picture Medium and Live Performance) to study film and cinematography. In 2011, Ofentse earned an Honours Degree in Cinematography. For his work on the short film IGOLIDE, filmed on 16mm Kodak film, he was named AFDA Best Cinematographer of 2010. His work on the short film “The Hajji,” shot in 2011, earned him an AFDA nomination for Best Cinematography.


Thato, a Sterkinekor commercial directed by Ofentse and shot on 35mm Kodak Film in 2011, was nominated for a Loerie Award and won a Silver Loerie in the Student Commercials category.

In 2014, Ofentse Mwase co-founded OM Films, one of South Africa’s most well-known, competitive, and 100 percent black-owned film production businesses.

Some of his greatest achievements as a music video director have come as a result of the establishment of this production firm, including winning Music Video of the Year at the 2017 South African Music Awards (SAMA) for his video for Miss Pru named Ameni.

Most recently, he won another SAMA for Prince Kaybee ft Msaki – Fetch Your Life. To date, Ofentse Mwase has won a total of 24 globally recognized awards for his DOP and Directing work.

With over 10 years’ experience in Film, Commercials and Music Videos, Ofentse is set to be one to look out for in the South African film industry as he continues to be involved in great projects for TV, Commercials and Online Digital Content
