Bongani Zungu remembers his late father

Mamelodi Sundowns marquee signing for the 2022/23 DStv Premiership season Bongani Zungu who put pen to paper on a three year bumper contract on his return after spending several years abroad seeking greener pastures paid tribute to his late father on social media.

The product of the now defunct Dynamos Development Academy tragedy lost his father who was an ardent football fan in 2013 during the early stages of his glistening career.

On Thursday, the 29 year old Duduza born footballer who became a first time father this year took to his Instagram stories where he took time to remember his late father. On the day, the Mamelodi Sundowns jersey number 8 decided to share a rare photo of his father who had wore an Orlando Pirates home jersey from the 1997/98 season.

From the shared picture on the popular platform, Bongani Zungu’s late father was captured alongside his now famous son who plays professional football for a living and his older son Zakhele Zungu where it appears as if one of them was celebrating their birthday. Now, “Ben 10” as he is affectionately known as has penned a touching message to his late father where he wrote, “Miss you dad”.

The former Rangers loanee who is expected to hit the ground running made his second Mamelodi Sundowns debut this past weekend during their DStv Premiership 1-0 victory against AmaZulu at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium where he made an appearance in the dying stages of the match.
