Gomora’s Sana Mchunu is one of television’s most loved characters, as she plays the hilarious and problematic Zodwa.
Speaking to Isolezwe the Gomora actress has opened up about how this character was easy to embody as she has lived a similar life as the one she acts. Her character brings life to Mzansi’s television screens however it has not been all rosy.
Sana has opened up about falling pregnant at the tender age of 14 and how she had to endure the public’s crass behavior towards her. The multi-talented actress started off as a dancer however all of that quickly came to a halt after falling pregnant.
“Everything that I have gone through was God’s will because look where I am now. My marriage failed as I was abused continuously. I then returned home and became a laughing stock in my community when I left my marital home with six children,” she told the publication.
Not looking to let life beat her down, her good friend Winnie Khumalo took her to numerous audition places where she landed her first roles, leading to her major roles on telenovela’s such as Generations, The Queen and many more.
Touching on her personal life, she says playing Zodwa is enjoyable as she resonates with the character very well.
“My children live with their father and that does not sit well with me. The way Zodwa is damaged makes me want to work hard to bring this character to life as I have gone through the exact ordeals as her,” she opened up.
