Social media has been abuzz with news that Menzi Biyela and Nompilo Maphumulo who play the roles of Pastor Sambulo Gwala and Nosipho Ngcobo respectively have been sacked from the weekday show.

Uzalo and public broadcaster SABC 1 have now confirmed the rumour that the onscreen couple is surely exiting.

SABC 1 acting channel head Thuli Nhlapo confirmed their exit saying they will exit at the beginning of Season 9 which is set to debut early next year.

“We want to take our hats off to the stellar performances of Nompilo and Menzi over the years. Their portrayal of the characters, Nosipho and Pastor Gwala will forever be embedded in the hearts and minds of our viewers. Great is the art of beginning, but greater is the art of ending – Henry Wadsworth Longfellow,” said Nhlapo.

Uzalo’s producer, David Mukwevho also cemented the news confirming their exit giving praises to Nosipho and Gwala for giving a great perfomance in their respective roles.
