‘Spitting image’: Mzansi convinced Mandoza and son look identical

On Wednesday, 9 August, a video doing the rounds on Twitter showing Tokollo Tshabalala, the son of the late South African Kwaito legend Mandoza—real name Mduduzi Edmund Tshabalala who tragically died in 2016 had netizens commenting about their resemblance.

Mandoza became an international sensation with popular hit songs such as 50/50, Nkalakatha, Respect Life, Uzoyithola Kanjani, Sgeleke, and more. He died in Johannesburg on 16 September 2016 after a year-long cancer battle.

Several years after his death, his music is still enjoyed by his fans, and his upcoming biopic is reported to be already in production. Shaka Ilembe actor Wiseman Mncube will be playing the part of the legendary Kwaito icon, SowetanLIVE reported.

A video showing Mandoza’s son Tokollo at what appears to be a BET event left Twitter buzzing recently. Netizens were convinced the young man looks identical to his late father.“He would v been the perfect fit for the role,” @GiftMarake1 wrote.

“Mnjee why they took uWiseman to play uMandoza whilst there’s his look-alike,’ @ShoziSpheh said.

“Named after Magesh, looks like his dad…Kwaito DNA 101,” @Shelomohkeita replied.
