Skeem Saam – Koloi is blinded by his lying girlfriend Ruth

Koloi (Tshepo Senatle) and Ruth (Majwala Molokomme) couldn’t be happier with their lives and their relationship, even if they’re in two separate cities. But all is not as it seems when Koloi learns the truth about Ruth’s whereabouts.

He’s always been under the impression that Ruth was in Cape Town, until rumours did the rounds that she was back.

Koloi doesn’t want to believe what he’s hearing at first, but then he walks right into her and doesn’t know what to say.

As her boyfriend, he wants to know why she’s back when she’s supposed to be studying in Cape Town and why she didn’t tell him, says Tshepo, whose character is far from happy that his girlfriend chose not to see him first upon her return to town.

But as it turns out, Koloi can’t really be angry when Ruth breaks down and reveals all. “Ruth explains that she was unable to afford to go to school there and that she didn’t tell him of her situation and her return because she was too ashamed,” Tshepo adds.

FINANCIAL WOES SOLVED

Never one to step down from a challenge, Koloi immediately helps Ruth try to make things work – and he suggest that she applies for a General Employee Pension Fund (GEPF).

Koloi sheds light on some information that Ruth had no idea about and that she’s able to apply for funding through her late parents, who were government employees, and after she agrees to go ahead with it, he helps her with the claims process.

Filling out the claim forms has Ruth ready to go back to Cape Town and continue her studies in BSC Genetics, but there’s a slight hitch: The fund requires a 60-day waiting period. “Ruth is really excited and for once, she’s happy to be patient because her education and future are on the line,” says Tshepo.
