Mampintsha’s mother had a long history of illnesses. When her kwaito star son died last December, the 65-year-old’s health took a rapid turn for the worst. Mampintsha passed away in Durdoc Hospital after suffering a second minor stroke. Mampintsha’s mother followed her son to the grave the following month when she took her last breath at Wentworth Hospital in Durban.
RASTA THE ARTIST PAINTS TRIBUTE PORTRAITS
Rasta the Artist was seen at Mampintsha’s funeral and painted a picture of the late kwaito star. He pledged to continue listening to the late Big Nuz member’s music even after he had died.
According to Zimjola, Gumede was buried in style at Red Hill Cemetery in Durban and laid to rest by volunteers Icebolethu Funerals.
On Saturday, 21 January, the Zimbabwean artist took to his online platforms to share his latest painting of Mampintsha’s mother and captioned,
“Farewell mam ZamaNguni Cynthia Gumede Zuma. MAM of da late Manda Mampintsha Maphumulo and Gogo ka Sponge… Kubuhlungu [It hurts]. @L Community Hall KwaMashu Durban.”
Online users were impressed with Rasta’s latest painting and told him he did a good job.
