Mama Joy wants free trip to Olympics – DA MP says ‘no chanceEnd of the ‘gravy train’? DA MP’s Ngamla Gouws has sent a stern warning to Mama Joy after she hinted at attending the Paris Olympics.Incoming DA MP Renaldo Ngamla Gouws has doubled down on his criticism of sports supporter Joy Chauke, or Mama Joy after she hinted at wanting to go to the Paris Olympics next month.

The “superfan” has previously been sponsored by the government to attend major sporting events, such as the Rugby World Cup in France, the Fifa World Cup in Qatar, and the Cricket World Cup in India.Chauke’s comments days after Maropene Ramokgopa was announced as the acting Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture.

SUPERFAN WANTS TO GO TO THE PARIS OLYMPICS
Earlier this week, Mama Joy tweeted a picture of herself with the caption: “I can’t wait, guys, Olympics in Paris”.

The sports fan is referring to the Summer Olympics, which will take place from 26 July to 11 August in Paris, France.

However, many of her followers expressed their views that her numerous sponsored trips by the Department of Sports, Arts, and Culture should be cut short.

@TshepoTC11: “Give others a chance, please. Or use your own money.@AvainAfrica: “People have voted, and the wallet is closed, Mama Joy.”

@Unexpressed0: “Aren’t you tired of eating our money?”

@ChrisFriskin72: “Your time of FREE LOADING IS OVER…..NO MORE ABUSE OF HARD WORKING TAX PAYERS MONEY”

Joining in was incoming DA member Renaldo “Ngamla” Gouws, who tweeted: “Snowball’s chance in hell. Unless you pay your own way”.Defending his comments, he continued: “Gravy Train has derailed. She can work and earn a salary and then use that money to travel the world.

“The kids who could have received that money for kits care, the kids who actually deserve to be uplifted and deserve that allocation of funds. Not this professional clown parading as a superfan.”OVER A MILLION SPENT ON SUPERFANS‘S WORLD CUP TRIP
Ngamla Gouws has been vocal about his criticism of Mama Joy’s sponsored trips abroad. Last year, the outspoken DA member got into a heated spat with the superfan, whom he claims not only received free trips but was allegedly paid to be an ambassador.

Clapping back, former Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture Zizi Kodwa claimed that Mama Joy had become the “face” of sports in SA.

Of her trip to France, he tweeted: “ It cannot be correct for South Africans who are refusing change to use the Rugby World Cup to push their underlying racism and patriarchal tendencies to bully and insult a woman who has built a profile as a superfan across all sporting codes from the bottom-up.”

According to an AfriForum investigation, the department spent over R1 million to send both Mama Joy and fellow fan Botha MAMA JOY SPONSORED TRIPS TO THESE MAJOR SPORTING EVENTS
Over the past few years, Mama Joy has attended various sporting events at the cost of taxpayers, including the following:

Fifa World Cup in Qatar (2022)
Netball World Cup in Cape Town (2023)
Rugby World Cup in France (2023)
Fifa Women World’s Cup (2023)

Former president and MK Party leader Jacob Zuma has held many positions of authority. But what education or qualifications does he have?

Jacob Zuma—fondly known as Msholozi or “Father of the Nation”—will continue to lead the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party following a legal battle with rival Jabulani Khumalo.

The 82-year-old was a popular pick at the polls last month for many South Africans, garnering over two million votes.

The MK Party has placed much emphasis on education – but what qualifications does the former president have?

MK LEADER TO STAY IN POWER
On Wednesday, 12 June, expelled MK Party leader Jabulani Khumalo’s bid to be reinstated fell flat.

According to the Electoral Court, Khumalo “did not have a standing to seek relief concerning the leadership of the party.” The court claimed that his urgent application was not filed within a reasonable time and that his application was “frivolous and completely devoid of merit.”

Meanwhile Jacob Zuma has continued to claim that the MK Party was robbed at the polls, of which he believes they should have received “two-thirds” of the votes.

He told EWN: “The IEC took our votes and gave them to another party. That is not democracy. We’ve got evidence. That is why I charged them.”

Zuma revealed plans for the MK Party to boycott the first parliamentary sitting, set to take place on Friday, 14 June, in Cape Town.

WHAT QUALIFICATIONS DOES JACOB ZUMA HAVE?
The MK Party manifesto places great emphasis on education. This includes the proposal of free basic and tertiary education for all South Africans.

Jacob Zuma told his party supporters at a rally in Orlando Stadium last month: “We want our children to study for free. Especially those from poor households because the poverty we have was not created by us. It was created by settlers who took everything, including our land. We’ll take all those things back, make money, and educate our children.”

The manifesto includes a controversial clause to send pregnant teenagers away to Robben Island, where he wants them to complete their education.

But what education does the great Msholozi himself have?

Despite becoming the head of the ANC Intelligence Department during exile, Zuma actually has no formal education.

According to Distinction Pass, Zuma dropped out of primary school in grade six. As a teen, Zuma received political and military training through the ANC.

Department of Education reacts to Skomota appearing in exam paper
The department of education has responded after an examination paper, with Skomota as a case study, went viral on social media. The Department of Education has responded to the widespread controversy over the inclusion of social media influencer Skomota as a exam topic in a question paper that has been circulating on X (formerly Twitter).

OUTRAGE OVER SKOMOTA’S INCLUSION IN EXAM PAPER
This week, a Life Orienatation examination paper emerged with the popular Limpopo-born influencer – Thabang Sefala – as a case study. In the question paper, learners had to answer three questions about the dancer and get 10 marks if they answer correctly.

However, critics argued that the inclusion of Skomota undermines the examination process as well as the value of academic excellence especially because many do not see him as a positive influence. In many viral social media videos, Skomota is often seen drinking alcohol and touching and kissing women.

“It’s the assumption that all children know Skomota for me😏…….There are parents who would do anything to not expose their children to oSkomota because they realise that there is nothing to learn from his behaviour. The Department of Education needs to do better!” said one X user.

While another said: “Kids need to be taught financial literacy and other important things not to answer exam questions about Skomota like really?”DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION RESPONDS
Speaking to ZiMoja, National Department of Basic Education spokesperson, Elijah Mhlanga, said that the authenticity of the examination paper is still in question. He claimed that the question in the examination paper could have been manipulated.

“DBE would not know if this were real or not because schools set their own exams for learners under grade 12. There are no national exams but internal exams which means a school could do something like this for their own purposes.” Mhlanga said.

“It could easily be a manipulated document.”

However, he promised to get to the bottom of the matter by taking it up with the other education departments in the nine provinces.

“I will, however, check with my colleagues from the provinces if they know anything about it,” added Mhlanga.
