A video showing the late Sarafina! song composer Mbongeni Ngema speaking at a funeral has been doing the rounds on social media since it was posted on Thursday, 28 December on X (the social media previously known as Twitter) — this comes after a family statement announced that the slain 68-year-old playwright veteran died in a fatal car accident on his way back from attending a funeral service in Mbizana in the Eastern Cape on Wednesday evening, 28 December.

The death of Mbongeni Ngema was announced via a statement which was shared on social media on Wednesday.

“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved brother, father, husband, and patriot Mbongeni Ngema… Ngema was killed in a head-on car accident while returning from attending a funeral in Lusikisiki in the Eastern Cape this evening. He was a passenger in the vehicle,” the statememt read.Netizens were left in their feelings after seeing a video showing the late Sarafina! composer bidding farewell to his friend at a funeral. Standing in front of the funeral service, Ngema could be heard saying: “Part of my life is gone with her.” Netizens have since taken to the comment section and expressed their sorrow after hearing Ngema’s heart-wrenching speech to his late friend.

Meanwhile, the Eastern Cape Department of Health has confirmed that Ngema’s body has been released to his family after an autopsy was concluded earlier this week, ZiMoja reported.“He was bidding farewell to a departed somebody not knowing only hours later his name will be called too. Death often does come like a thief in the night 😢,” @mageba_sthembz said.

“I’m saddened by his passing, the man had so much love & passion for the industry he served for so many years. Death be not proud,” @ManqobaShangase commented.

“He was still healthy and full of life. Those Eastern Cape roads are killers.

Vusi Nova is in his late 30s. He recently admitted that he had forgotten that he wasn’t an adolescent anymore. This comes after he was admitted to the hospital and diagnosed with high blood pressure. “I sometimes forget that I’m not getting any younger. I feel 21!” he said.

The Ndikuthandile hitmaker was released from the hospital and is back on his grind as he recently left his former record Muthaland Entertainment to start his own company, Nova Sounds, SowetanLIVE reported. “I got back from the hospital this morning and I’m feeling healthier and energised,” he added.The beloved singer encouraged his fans and social media followers to pay attention to their health. He explained that he hadn’t a clue that he had high blood pressure until his body suddenly started “acting up”.

“Make sure you exercise; your diet is proper [and] you go for check-ups. Yesterday I was hospitalised very early in the morning – around five [due to] fatigue. My heart was acting up and then I found out that I have high blood pressure. Mbongeni Ngema, the late Sarafina! song composer died on Wednesday, 28 December at 68-year-old on his way back from attending a funeral service in Mbizana in the Eastern Cape – the South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa has since paid tribute to the late veteran playwright.A family statement announcing Mbongeni Ngema’s death was released on social media on Wednesday evening. It read: “It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved brother, father, husband, and patriot Mbongeni Ngema… Ngema was killed in a head-on car accident while returning from attending a funeral in Lusikisiki in the Eastern Cape. He was a passenger in the vehicle.”

According to TshisaLIVE, the Eastern Cape police said they were investigating a case of culpable homicide after the accident that occurred at about 4.30 pm, allegedly involving a white Renault sedan and a truck.

 

 

“The three people were rushed to hospital for treatment. The deceased [Mbongeni Ngema], who was one of the passengers who succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, and the other two including the driver are still at the hospital,” Lt-Col Siphokazi Mawisa was quoted as saying.

Taking to his timeless, the South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa paid tribute to the iconic composer, musician, and actor.

According to ZiMoja, the Eastern Cape Department of Health confirmed that Mbongeni Ngema’s body was released to his family on Thursday, 28 December. “An autopsy was conducted and his body was released to the family. The body is now en route to KwaZulu Natal,” the department was quoted as saying.
