Mshoza’s funeral service took place at the House of Treasures Ministries in Rispark, Johannesburg yesterday.

This comes after the Kwaito star, whose real name was Nomasonto Maswanganyi, died earlier this week due to complications caused by diabetes.

The ceremony was broadcast live on YouTube for those who wished to join in honouring the life of the late musician. The likes of Khanyi Mbau, Molemo “Jub Jub” Maarohanye and Mzwakhe Mbuli were in attendance and paid their last respects to Mshoza. Mshoza’s children delivered a moving eulogy in honour of their late mother and Jub Jub performed his “Ndikhokhele” remix alongside other artists as they paid homage to the queen of kwaito.

Khanyi Mbau described Mshoza’s loss as a huge loss to the industry and South Africa as a whole. “If resilience and staying power was a person it would be her. We may cry but legends never die, they find a place in our hearts, in history and the fibre of our culture as it evolves in going forward. We allow her to rest and take her place in the sky with all the musical gods,” Khanyi said.

The funeral procession moved to Westpark Cemetery in Montgomery Park where Mshoza was buried and we were never ready to hear her children crying and asking her to wake up as the casket went down.
