It is no doubt that 2022 is definitely a year of Michael Bucwa AKA Mr Smeg. Just a few days back he was spotted in a date with Mzansi’s most anticipated actor and presenter Pearl Thusi and now he has secured a gig worth thousands of rands with Mercedes.

Perhaps let’s start by looking at the background of Mr Smeg shall we. Michael Bucwa is an entrepreneur and marketing guru from Eastern Cape who has became famous on Twitter for his signature. Just like anyone out there is a brand even yourself, Michael Bucwa decided to grown his brand by using a signature (his red cattle from Smeg).

He conistently shared his pictures on social media with his kettle next to him. He did that until he received attention from his fellow twitter users. They then decided to name him Mr Smeg.

As a business-minded young man Michael used the platform to grow himself as an entrepreneur and also used it to promote the local brands. We are speaking of Smeg itself even though it is a Chinese manufactured product, Tshepo Jeans, Oskido’s restaurant DANURO, Drip shoes, Billiato and more.

Smeg and Pearl Thusi partnered and used the social as a platform to help local brands get exposure to millions of South Africans. Many brands offered their services to Smeg and Pearl Thusi on their date even Merdeces itself decided to jump in.

Well Mercedes-Benz seems to have interest in working with Mr SAS they offered his a contract to be a face of their billboard in Sandton. Now that we call a power of social media.

Taking to Twitter, Mr Smeg announced such great news on his account.

“I can’t believe that I am gonna be the Main Star kwi Advert ka Mercedes Benz Sandton 🥲”, he tweeted.
