The Kwa-Zulu Natal Entertainment Awards will be held on 15th of December 2020 at the Durban International Convention Centre, where the provinces top achievers will be awarded achievement trophies and cash prizes. All category winners will reportedly walk away with R100 000 and the overall winner R500 000 in cold hard cash. The purpose of these awards is to recognize the industry movers and shakers who are doing very well for themselves.

Expressing her disapproval media personality slammed these awards and said the money could be put to greater use. She pointed out a few things that the money could be spent on including fixing the infrastructure on schools, include better modes of transport for kids who have to cross unsafe rivers just to go to school.

The aspect of the award ceremony celebrating the province’s talent is not overlooked by Hulisani, however it is the funds used for the price money that she regards as a waste.

“Who’s paying? IF it’s government, this is a spit in the face of dilapidated schools, kids who cross dangerous rivers & walk for km’s to get to school, students who can’t afford tuition. I’m all for celebrating those who do well, the arts, mara please, this is wasteful expenditure,” she commented.

“And before you say that the DAC’s (Department Of Arts And Culture) budget is what is being tapped into and not DBE (Department Of Basic Education), shup, there are still many ways that these funds can more purposefully used to uplift members of the arts community in the province. This ain’t it.”
Present on the day of the launch and on the panel to take questions were Sjava, Black Coffee and DJ Tira, all Kwa-Zula Natal natives and the MC for the evening was none other than Somizi himself.

A huge part of people’s disapproval comes from Sjava’s inclusion, however many applauded Tira and Black Coffee for not shunning away from him
Some fans were relieved to learn that Sjava was also part of this awards show, he has been keeping a low profile in these streets because of his on-going battle with Lady Zamar after her rape accusations. His last sighting in public was at a performance in Pretoria at a club called Propaganda and he lasted thanked the attendees in a Tweet.

“Thank you to everyone that came through izolo in Pretoria And thank you to Propaganda for having me it was extra special I appreciate it.”
