As it crossed 10.2 million views, SABC 1’s Uzalo smashed viewing records last year, making it the most watched TV soapie in South Africa. In addition, the soapie was able to retain its top spot on the ratings of the audience up to date.
Uzalo actors have won many hearts of South Africans with their acting skills, but the sad truth is that they are going through the most than we think.
What has been the cry of many actors in the country is that they are over worked and underpaid, they have to report on scene even when they are sick. The cast of Uzalo is worried that this month they might not be paid.
The actors are crossing fingers that they will get their pay in full, following going home empty handed last month, which led them abandoning shooting.
According to reports it is said that because of the pandemic and lockdown these actors are surviving on one salary which is the one paid by Sabc.
Well, while the cast is singing on a very same note, the Uzalo spokesperson Nomfundo Zondi has taken a different note, assuring the actors that all will be settled and they should not worry.
