Five things to know about Lukhanyo Am: Age

As the Springboks celebrated their one-month anniversary since winning the 2023 Rugby World Cup title in Paris, France last month, the day also marked Lukhanyo Am’s birthday as he turned 30 on Tuesday, 28 November. Here are five things to know about the rugby champion.

He was born on 28 November, 1993 in King William’s Town, a small township in the Eastern Cape. He went to Hoerskool De Vos Malan High School and plays the centre position on the rugby field.

    The seasoned rugby star is six feet and two inches tall, Briefly reported.

    With many of the Springbok players married, Lukhanyo Am is known to be one of the few Boks that are still in the market. The list of singles includes Evan Roos, Jaden Hendriks, Makazole Mapimpi, Damian Willemse, and the team’s youngest player Canan Moodie.

    Lukhanyo Am was brought up by his mother, Zukiswa who had envisioned him to take on the community’s passion for soccer, however, Am is said to have had other plans for himself, Rugby 365 reported. He reportedly started off as a lock before branching out to play the centre position for the U13s at the Margate-based Gladiators Rugby Academy. Thereafter, he is said to have gotten picked up by the Border Bulldogs.

  5. A BRIEF LOOK INTO LUKHANYO AM’S AACHIEVEMENTS
    According to the publication, Lukhanyo Am got signed by the Sharks in 2013 and later made his mark with the team after helping the Durban team reach the Super Rugby quarter-finals in 2017, 2018 and 2019. And, by 2017, he was reportedly awarded with the Springbok colours despite missing part of the middle finger on his left hand.
