‘Daddy will hear you in heaven’: Kairo sings AKA’s ‘Lemons’ See

South African rapper Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, better known by his stage name AKA, was tragically killed in Durban on February 10th this year.


 

 

 

Since his passing, his young daughter, Kairo, has been left to grieve and find ways to cope with the loss of her beloved father. Recently, Kairo took to her Instagram account to share a video of herself singing one of AKA’s songs, Lemons (Lemonade), featuring fellow rapper Nasty C.

The video, which has since gone viral, shows Kairo confidently singing along to the song in the back of a car with her friend. The two girls are all smiles as they sing along word-for-word to the popular track. Kairo shared the video with a heartfelt caption that read, “Kairo on the 🎤…. I’m going to miss our car sessions, daddy,❤️AKA’s murder remains unsolved, and the investigation is ongoing. KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi recently gave an update on the case, encouraging the community to come forward with any information that may help in the investigation. Speaking to SABC, Mkhwanazi said, “The different cameras in that vicinity are not installed by the state, but it is those cameras that are helping us to analyse and identify some of those people who might have been involved and it helps us to make linkages.”

In a recent development, Minister of Police Bheki Cele announced that the cellphones of several suspects in connection with AKA’s death had been confiscated. While the investigation continues, Kairo and the rest of AKA’s family and friends are left to mourn his loss and find ways to remember him.

The outpouring of love and support for Kairo on social media has been overwhelming. Fans and friends of AKA have left heartfelt messages of love and encouragement for the young girl. One user wrote, “We love you, Kairo. Daddy is watching and protecting you always. He is forever proud of you ❤️❤️❤️.” Another user commented, “A girl who’s loved by her country with sooooo many aunties she never met. We love you, Kairo ❤️❤️❤️❤️.”
