Sunday World has it that the star singer died at a private Johannesburg hospital on Monday night with her fiancé, Mpho Xaba, by her bedside.


 

 

 

 

 

UNTIMELY DEATH
Zahara was admitted in November after she fell ill. Reports have it that upon admission, she was transferred to the intensive care unit (ICU) because of her condition.

Against the news of her admission, her family and management released a joint statement on 27 November confirming the news. In the backdrop of her untimely death, she has been topping trends as Mzansi flooded social media with their heartfelt condolences.
Some of her epic performances and interviews have since resurfaced on social media. However, her interview with controversial podcast host MacG is topping trends. Two years ago, Zahara was MacG’s guest on Podcast and Chill with MacG.

During the interview, she spoke about her record label woes and how she was allegedly swindled millions from her smash hits. Zahara also rubbished claims that she was abusing alcohol and made it known that she was a victim of fake news.

When asked about what she wanted to be remembered as when all is said and done, Zahara said, ‘I want to be remembered as the girl next door.’

She added that she wanted to be remembered as the girl next door who changed lives and whose music inspires everyone across all verticals. The viral clip has gained thousands of comments and reactions since it resurfaced on social media.

Zahara had been hospitalised for two weeks with liver complications but her situation deteriorated during her stay in hospital.According to a source known Sunday World, the Loliwe hitmaker passed away just before 9pm on Monday night.

ZAHARA’S FAMILY RELEASED A STATEMENT LAST WEEK
Just last week, Zahara’s family released a statement pleading with the public to stop spreading disingenuous information on the internet.


 

 

 

 

 

“Unfortunately, even though our daughter’s hospitalisation has been of strict confidentiality within our family and close friends, that hasn’t stopped the spread of disingenuous information on the internet.

“We want to stress that any reliable information regarding Zahara’s health will be communicated via her official social media platforms or by herself,” read the statement.

The South African website would like to send its heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Zahara and the entire music industry.

The Loliwe hitmaker was admitted in hospital with liver complications two weeks ago. A source close to the muso told Sunday World that the singer passed away just before 9pm.
“The family will release a statement soon. She was with Mpho when she passed away,” the source added.
Mkutukana family spokesperson and Zahara’s cousin Oyama Dyosiba said he was struggling to locate Xaba on Monday night.
“I am getting calls from everywhere. I am in Cape Town and I am doing my best to get hold of Mpho. I can’t get hold of him,” he added.
A week ago, the family confirmed that Zahara was hospitalised for a week.
They thanked those supporting them and expressing compassion for the then ailing musician. This after reports the singer was rushed to hospital due to “liver complications”.
The statement read: “Unfortunately, even though our daughter’s hospitalisation has been of strict confidentiality within our family and close friends, that hasn’t stopped the spread of disingenuous information on the internet. We want to stress that any reliable information regarding Zahara’s health will be communicated via her official social media platforms or by herself.”
The singer’s family from East London also arrived in Joburg to be by the singer’s fiancé, Xaba’s, side.
Zahara was admitted to a medical ward but her condition became worse and she was transferred to the ICU section of the private hospital.
Last week, the singer’s situation deteriorated and she was reportedly unresponsive.
