How King Monada spends his R39 million fortune: His insane car collection & mansion

The award-winning artist is undoubtedly one of the most successful South African artists, and has taken the Bolobedu music far and beyond our borders; and in doing so, made a lot of money for himself.

Life and career

Khutso Steven Kgatle, better known by his stage name King Monada was born November 25, 1992 in Mokgoloboto village, Tzaneen in Limpopo.

Like most successful artists, Monada’s love for music manifested early on in his life. While in grade 8, he dropped out of high school to pursue his passion for music and started composing his own music.

Due to lack of funds, he started dancing on the side to supplement his income from music.

Most of his songs were written in Khelobedu (the standard Northern Sotho language), this enabled him to amass a loyal fan-base from his local area easily.

However, breaking in to the mainstream music industry proved difficult for two major reasons; early on he was based in the rural Limpopo region, with limited resources and opportunities for artists; secondly, his Bolobedu house music- at the there weren’t that many mainstream artists in his genre.

“This genre of music is called Bolobedu house music, but many people do not really understand it. And musicians who are doing this kind of music in the rural areas do not have strong connections in the industry,” he explained.

Determined to make it, Monada spent years performing in parties and taverns around his home town, until lady luck smiled on him. He luck turned when he met a producer – Molao Rammala of Open Mic production, who helped him record his smashing hit single- ska bora moreki.

Monada left Open Mic production to start his own label music, King Monada Music; where he released his 2018 hit song Malwedhe (Idibala) which was released and voted #2 on Ukhozi FM song of the year, with the #idibala dance challenge going viral, catapulting him to stardom.

Net worth

With incredible success of his songs, Monada has not only made a name for himself as king of Bolobedu music, but has also made a fortune for himself. However, much of his wealth comes from his smart investments including property.

As of 2021, Monada’s net worth is estimated at R39 million, with some sources putting it as far as $5 million (R70 million).

His cars collection

With such a fortune, King Monada has built an incredible car collection. Below are some of the cars in his garage.

Mercedes Benz c63 AMG

First car on the list is no doubt his favourite car in the collection, and has changed colours many times over its ownership.

BMW M4

When he needs to give his c63 a rest, he hops in to this beautiful white M4, which is just as fast.

VW Golf GTI (Mk 7)

This was one of the first cars he was driving after he made his big break in the music industry.

Mercedes Benz V-Class

The spacious V- Class is perfect for those long trips while performing across the country, and is big enough for all his friends and family to tag along.

Never forgetting the most important woman in his life, Monada also bought his mother a car- a brand new blue Ford Figo.

Dj Maphorisa: “People wanted me and Kabza to separate so badly, look now”

Maphorisa and Kabza the small became inseparable since their hit album of Amapiano tittle the Scorpion Kings did well all over the country last year. The album since then gave people sleepless nights and led them into lockdowns during this pandemic.

Although all their tracks or albums are a hit, people were skeptical that their working relationship will work out as Maphorisa appeared to be bossy. He was accused of acting superior on decks while Kabza was the one who created most Amapiano beats.

When Kabza and Maphorisa starting going to events together, frequently, Maphorisa was told to give Kabza his moment to shine alone instead of stealing his Spot light.

Generations – Kabisi in a serious health scare that could rattle the Moroka’s

It’s been a rough few months for the Morokas. Doctor Sphe (Pearl Monama) lost her dad Jack (Vusi Kunene) in a horrifying chainsaw attack, and Tshidi (Letoya Makhene) had to deal with the fallout of the new Moroka Media threat against her beloved #Ezweni.

But the universe has one more zinger to throw the Morokas’ way, and this time Kabisi’s (Mpho Joseph Molepo) health is on the line.

SO METAL

Kabisi has been experiencing a number of concerning symptoms of late.

“His food tastes like metal, he is dizzy and his vision is blurry,” reveals Mpho. While the metallic taste sensation is odd, Mpho says that his character doesn’t worry about it just yet, chalking it up to old age.

But when he starts feeling nauseous and develops a fever, Kabisi pays a bit more attention. “He knows that it’s not uncommon for men of his age to get sick every now and then,” Mpho explains, adding that his character isn’t ready to consult a medical professional just yet.

Unfortunately, a few days of selfmedication and rest has a worse effect on Kabisi. His wife Tshidi is left shaken when she finds her hubby sweating profusely and looking gravely ill in bed. But Mpho says even this early-morning scare isn’t enough to get Kabisi to seek medical advice.
