Nyakallo’s Exit On The River: Fans Are Not Happy

Jessica Sithole who plays the character Nyakallo in the award winning telenovela The River, took to instagram on Thursday to thank her fans for welcoming her to their screens” Thank you so much for welcoming me into your homes thank you to the cast and crew of The River, thank you OneMagic” she wrote.Yesterdays episode was the end of the road for the talented and beautiful actress Jessica. Fans were not happy about this announcement as they loved her on screen. Fans commented on the post saying she nailed the character which i agree.Fan wrote”that was so quick i really had hope that we will see you and Madlabantu in one kitchen like i expected more”. if you watch the show you know why Lindiwe is called Madlabantu. Some wrote that they hate Lindiwe.


Nyakallo was introduced to the Dikana family to fill her aunt Flora while she was going away to concentrate and fulfill her Choral duties. She came across as shy and obedient at first but later she fell in love with her boss Zweli Dikana, who is married to Lindiwe Dikana. They ended up getting married.

According to Citizen article published on the 1st of July 2021 says ”When i was tasked with Nyakallo’s character and her description i tried to dissect and understand it fully because that is what brings forth to our television screens. I tried dissecting every letter of her name and i could say each letter represented her characteristics and that’s how i brought her to life”, she said.

The actress told the citizen that she enjoyed playing the character because it gave South African couples something to discuss about their own relationship. The 22 year old said ” I’ll use marriage as an example of a theme from the telenovela ,because today in marriages we find out that woman are not being submissive compared to the older days. With Nyakallo, she does what women in the olden days did which is extreme , she makes sure that Ntate Zweli’s hands are washed before eating, putting food on the table with care.” she said.
