The tombstone of former Bafana Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwa has been vandalized less than a month after it was unearthed.

The official Twitter account of Bafana Bafana released images of the tombstone that had been vandalized on social media platforms.

The tombstone of slain Bafana Bafana goalkeeper and captain Senzo Meyiwa has been vandalized just a few weeks after it was dedicated at the Heroes Acre cemetery in Chesterville, Durban.

Nat Nakasa’s tombstone was also vandalized next to it, according to reports.

The Meyiwa family has been contacted by the association’s provincial structures, he said.

As a family, we don’t understand why they did this.

Sifiso Meyiwa, one of Meyiwa’s brothers, said the family plans to file a police report on Monday.

I don’t think Mom is going to make it. Family members are baffled and don’t know why the harm was done, he added, adding that no one in the household knew who was responsible.

No vandalism cases had been opened at the time, according to KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Brigadier Jay Naicker, according to The Citizen

His ex-girlfriend Kelly Khumalo was found slain at the home of the former Bafana and Orlando Pirates goalkeeper in 2014. When it comes to the death of the former Bafana captain, five people have been detained so far, and they are scheduled to appear in court next March.
