In light of the tragedy, fans wondered how wife and fellow Gqom artist, Bongekile “Babes Wodumo” Maphumulo, formerly, Simelane, was coping. More so considering that she and Mampintsha shared their first and only child together, Sponge, who is still a toddler.

While Afrotainment and DJ Tira spearheaded the social media update campaign, not much was seen nor heard from Babes Wodumo. This is as the star has been off social media for months following her many mishaps and fights with people on social media.

However, now there have been photos that have surfaced of Babes Wodumo mourning the loss of her husband.

The last update that was shared on Babes Wodumo and her state of mind in light of the passing of her husband painted a grave image. This is off the allegations that Babes was distraught as she found out that Mampintsha was late like the rest of us, on social media.

A nurse who was allegedly in Mampintsha’s ward was the one to reveal the matter on social media, which subsequently went viral. Therefore, it was no surprise when the disheartening news that when Mampintsha’s body arrived home, Babes allegedly threw herself on the coffin of her late husband.

But there has now been circulated images of Babes Wodumo in mourning. While there is no clear source as to where the original images were first posted.

On Thursday, 29 December 2022, a memorial ceremony is being held at Bishop Vusi Dube’s eThekwini Community Church in the Durban CBD in honor of the late award-winning musician Mandla Maphumulo, also known as Mampintsha.

Mandla “Mampintsha” Maphumulo, a member of the popular Gqom band Big Nuz, will be put to rest in Durban on Friday.

 

 

 

 

Before leaving for the burial, his loved ones will assemble for a funeral procession at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli ICC in Durban.

After having a mild stroke two weeks ago, Maphumulo, popularly known to his followers as Shimora, passed suddenly early on Saturday morning in a hospital.

At a memorial service that will be conducted at the eThekwini Community Church on Thursday morning, Big Nuz fans will wish him farewell.

According to a representative for the Maphumulo family named Zanele, his musician wife Bongekile Simelane, well known as Babes Wodumo, had trouble accepting his passing.

At the time, Zanele stated: The late musician was hospitalized after having a stroke one week following a concert with his band.

One kid was born to Maphumulo and Babes Wodumo in July 2021.

He also appeared on the couple’s popular reality series Uthando Lodumo, which is presently airing on Showmax and in its second season.

On Saturday, after learning of Maphumulo’s passing, condolences flooded social media, and followers used the hashtag #RIPShimora to express their shock.

With his band Big Nuz, Maphumlo made his public debut in 2002. He was a member of the band with Danger, the late R Mashesha, and Gallo Records.

Big Nuz introduced popular songs like umlilo, tsege tsege, and ngeke, ushering in a new age of gqom music.
