Linda Mtoba returns to ‘The River’ as Nomonde Dikana

The TVSA The River September teasers confirm that talented actress Linda Mtoba will return to the 1Magic telenovela in September.

The teasers indicate that fans of the show will start seeing Nomonde on Wednesday, 13 September as the teaser reads:

“Nomonde acts out when she realises she’s no longer welcome in Lindiwe’s house.”

Thursday, 14 September: “Nomonde continues to wreak havoc in Lindiwe’s house. Cobra faces a hard truth.”

Mtoba took a break from the show towards the end of 2022 when her father Zweli Dikana, played by legendary actor Hlomla Dandala exited the show.

Dandala resigned from the telenovela after playing Lindiwe’s husband, Zweli for five seasons.‘THE RIVER’ COMES TO AN END
Other actors who exited The River include actors Tango Ncetezo, who’s been playing Paulina since season one and multi-award-winning actor Lawrence Maleka who played Zolani for five seasons.

Sowetan reported in February that the International Emmy Award-nominated telenovela which first aired in 2018, scooping multiple wins at the SA Film and Television Awards (Saftas) over the years.

Phathu Makwarela, who is the executive producer at Tshedza Pictures said: “When we created The River seven years ago, we knew that we wanted to tell a story that will have a definite ending.”

“Now on its sixth season, we feel the time is right to bring the story of these beloved characters to an end, on our own terms and when viewers still treasure the show. As the saying goes, ‘a good dancer always knows when to leave the stage’, and now it’s that time for The River.”

‘Condescending’: Phat Joe says the industry hasn’t cancelled him

Seasoned TV and radio personality Phat Joe was interviewed by Thembekile Mrototo on the second episode of Showmax’s Unfollow. He trended after answering questions regarding to his career which insinuated that he had been cancelled from the media and film industry.

Phat Joe — real name Majota Mandlakayise Isaac Khambule‘s unique ability to bond with TV viewers and radio listeners has enabled him to be one of South Africa’s most known presenters of all time. He has used his lip-smacking charm to win over several audiences in the media roles that he’s bagged in the past.

The iconic presenter rose to fame in the late 1990s and into the early 2000s when he was hosting The Phat Joe Show. He has also hosted several successful TV shows including Real Goboza, a celeb gossip magazine show; SABC 1’s Vuzu Amp; Take Me Out: South Africa; Take Me Out: Mzansi, and more, Briefly reported.

Although Phat Joe hasn’t been on our TV screens lately, during Unfollow’s latest episode, he shared that he was working on a special project. When asked by the interviewer whether he was cancelled by the industry, he laughed and explained that it was not over for him just yet.

“When I was in my thirties, I stopped gigging. I don’t do many gigs. And then after I left East Coast [radio], at that time, there was a time I was doing three or four TV shows. I had to stop all of that to focus on business. I’m still in the film and media business. Trust me, I’ve got some amazing things coming. It’s not over for me,” he replied.

South African record producer Kabza De Small showed off pictures of his mother in their Church gear.

To many’s surprise, Kabza’s mother was putting on her Church Uniform, which thrilled fans.


 

 

Undoubtedly, most men consider their mothers their biggest blessings and Kabza doesn’t look any different.

Sharing his mother on Instagram showed how much he cherished her and wished her to live long.

Many fans were thrilled to see Kabza’s mother, and she showed some vibes too.

She held her bible in her hand as she posed for pictures with her son.

SA praises Nolo Phiri for producing ‘Umkhokha: The Curse’

NOLO PHIRI: PRODUCING ROLE
The former Rhythm City actress Nolo Phiri scored a producing role at the hit telenovela Umkhokha: The Curse, which is created by Rhythm World Productions.
Phiri’s LinkedIN profile reveals that she has also produced eHostela, 1Magic’s dramedy Grown Woman, and she’s also managing director at Girl Next Door Media etc.


 

She’s also acted in Muvhango and Isibaya besides acting in her popular role as Niki Bongco in e.tv’s Rhythm City.

The Broadcasting Research Council of South Africa (BRCSA) revealed in July that Umkhokha: The Curse is now the most-watched telenovela on DStv with 741 994 viewers.

The award-nominated series which aired its first episode in October 2021 as Umkhokha returned in March 2023 as a telenovela titled Umkhokha – The Curse.

South Africans can’t get enough of the faith-based telenovela which focuses on a gigantic church in KwaZulu-Natal, Ithempeli Lenkosi and stars Deli Malinga as MaMzobe, Sibongile Ngubane as Difa, Nay Maps as Sphamandla, Hope Mbhele as Mabusi and many more.

‘Should be arrested’: Somizi’s clothing line faces backlash

Last year, South African media personality Somizi Mhlongo teased his kiddies clothing line Sompire kids. Heading online, he shared that he was launching a children’s brand to rival all other children’s brands. This year, he is finally making good on his promise butt unfortunately not everyone is excited about his latest venture.


 

 

Just one day before the launch of Sompire Kids, Somizi is facing backlash from peeps who don’t think that a convicted sexual offender should be supported.
