The title of the album’s title ahead of the release caused quite the stir as it had fans thinking that after 10 years the dynamic duo is calling it quits and going their separate ways.

Whilst neither Thabo “Smol” Mabogwane and Robert “Murdah” Mohosana commented on the rumours that they would be splitting ahead of the release, they have now set the record straight. Fans can breathe a sigh of relief as Black Motion is not calling it quits but simply a chapter that is coming to an end.

The duo began the journey in 2010 and their musical journey has seen them embrace their own sound that is true to their African heritage. On Youth Day, June 16th, they were celebrating 10 years of Black Motion with a 2-hour virtual performance with Telkom Plus.

In celebration of their 10th anniversary, the duo dropped their sixth album, which consists of 41 tracks and features from artists such as Simmy, Brendan Praise, Msaki and Ami Faku to mention a few.

Speaking to the Sowetan, the duo explained more about the title of their new album.

“The story has unfolded like a book and the albums we have released over the years have been chapters,” Smol told the publication.

“This is the last chapter of the first 10 years and now we are moving into a new book.

“This is us saying we are closing the book of trying to establish our mark in the industry and we are moving on to a more comfortable zone of artistic freedom.”

On Sunday, September 27, the duo’s concert docu-series Red Bull Rendezvous airs on Channel O and tells the story of their hits over the years.

Performances for the concert docu-series were filmed at the Three Rondavels in Graskop, Mpumalanga, a dream come true for the award-winning duo.

“We always had a dream of performing on a mountain and we finally took it to the mountains. We believe that our music is music of the mountains and then comes healing,” Smol told the Sowetan.

Speaking to IOL, Murdah shared the importance of having a documentary to celebrate their milestone.

“We have been wanting to do a documentary. Covid-19 changed some of our plans, but Red Bull got on board and helped make it possible. It was a way of celebrating the past decade and our success at home and abroad. To tell our story.”
