South African singer, Zakes Bantwini kicks off a DJ Maphorisa challenge as he flaunts his expensive bags worth millions.


 

 

Weeks ago, DJ Maphorisa caused a frenzy with a photo of himself carrying a Birkin bag which is worth over half a million rand.

Phori told his Twitter followers to calculate all he rocked, including the bag’s price, but it quickly landed him in the mud as people labeled him arrogant.

Zakes Bantwini who is known to be a lowkey artist got a bit playful on Twitter as he dropped a video of himself showing off a bigger size of the bag, this time around, flaunted expensive bags.

Happy 38 birthday to singer Vusi Nova.

Vusi Nova was named “Music Royalty “after he performed his song “Ndikuthandile” in front of a crowd that loved his music. The SAMA 23 came and saw the afro pop sensation being nominated and winning an award for the Nanina album. 2017 being the year for Vusi Nova, afro pop singer also won 2 awards at the South African Afro Music Awards in 2017, winning Best Afro Album and Best male.

He woke up one day and decided to ditch that life while having his mother inspire him to pursue his first love: a career in music. Vusi Nova moved to Johannesburg to pursue his dream and got signed at Muthaland Entertainment under the guidance of legendary businessman Lance Stehr. He released his first single “I’D RATHER GO BLIND” to much praise from music critics.

Vusi Nova’s career has been filled with enormous success; with two albums (Walk in the light and (Did it for love) the young crooner joined a kaleidoscope of internationalaward winning musicians who have covered the song. His second album Did It for Love was released in 2014 and included successful singles such as “Waterfalls”,“Baby” FT Kelly Khumalo, and “Indaba Zam” FT Brickz. A follow -up is his 2015 single featuring Kid X titled “Neva Let U Go” which has had a good reception with over 55 000 downloads and counting. His style of composition “is influenced by Reggae, Jazz and gospel music”, Vusi Nova says. Whoopi Goldberg and Leleti Khumalo reunited for a special screening of SARAFINA! to commemorate the 30th Anniversary

– International actress Whoopi Goldberg and local veteran actress Leleti Khumalo reunited to mark 30 years of the iconic South African musical Sarafina! by Mbongeni Ngema and Hugh Masekela.

The pair attended a special screening of the pioneering film in New York on Wednesday.

To mark the anti-apartheid musical three-decades milestone, the Nelson Mandela Foundation and the South African Consulate General in New York collaborated to see it through.A hearty standing ovation was also given to this now iconic movie at the 1992 Cannes Film Festival, which tells the story of a protest against Afrikaans becoming an official school language.

The event was attended by Prince Albert of Monaco and members of the original Sarafina! cast: Ntombikhona Dlamini, Nandi Ndlovu, and Lindiwe Dlamini, Basetsana Kumalo, chairperson of the South African Chamber of Commerce in the USA Neil Diamond and a host of United Nations delegates, diplomats and members of the International Olympic Committee.

Speaking at the screening, Whoopi Goldberg said, “It’s great to be here. I look at Leleti, I look at Anant and I think, wow we did do this! I’m getting old and every couple of years there’s a celebration and this is a 30-year celebration. I am honoured to be alive to celebrate it.”

She added: “Keep talking to the kids because they are going to fix it, they are going make it happen, they are going to make change happen. They are not polite, they are not going to bend when they see something wrong and that’s what happened in the film, they just got tired and said no more.”

South African actress Sophie Ndaba has been trending in the news after it was reported that the bank had repossessed her Johannesburg mansion. The rumours had it that she failed to service her bond with the bank and had her house listed as collateral, so the bank was selling it. However, after the news broke out, Sophie Ndaba took to social media to blast a journalist and set the record straight as she addressed the news of her house being repossessed.

The writer who had said Sophie was ailing was replied and told that the actress was fit as she showed off her body, asking if she looked like she was sick in any way. Lastly, the actress asked journalists to leave her and her family alone as she tried to rewrite her life.
