17 Years After Brenda Fassie’s Death, See What Her Only Son Looks Like Now

Brenda Nokuzola Fassie, who was born on November 3, 1964, died on May 9, 2004. She was a singer, songwriter, dancer, and activist from South Africa. She is the “Queen of African Pop,” the “Madonna of The Townships,” or simply The Black Madonna, as she is affectionately known by her fans as MaBrrr. Her “outrageous” stage antics earned her a reputation.

Fassie collapsed at her home in Buccleuch, Gauteng, on April 26, 2004, and was taken to a hospital in Sunninghill. She was initially reported to have died of cardiac arrest, but it was later revealed that she had fallen into a coma as a result of an asthma attack.

Her coma was caused by an overdose of cocaine taken the night before she collapsed, according to the post-mortem report. She went into cardiac arrest and suffered brain damage as a result of the lack of oxygen. Nelson Mandela, Winnie Mandela, and Thabo Mbeki paid Fassie a visit in the hospital, and her condition was front-page news in South African newspapers.

Bongani Fassie is the only child of Brenda Fassie, who had a son with a fellow Big Dudes member.

Bongani achieved a major life milestone when he won a lawsuit against his mother’s record label and producer, and then inherited Brenda’s estate. He’s also been given the green light to direct his mother’s biopic. Other fascinating facts about the late pop star’s son can be found here.

Bongani was born on August 26, 1985, in Johannesburg, South Africa, to Brenda Fassie and a fellow Big Dudes musician. Dumisane Ngubeni, Bongani Fassie’s father, was the band’s keyboard player, while Brenda was the lead vocalist. His mother wished for him to pursue a career as a lawyer. As a child, he spent the majority of his time with his mother. From his previous wife, Buhle Sangweni, he has a daughter named Brenda Nombuso Fassie. His daughter was named after his mother.

Bongani had a passion for singing since he was a child, despite his mother’s advice that he study law so that he could defend her. Ishmael and Da L.E.S. are among the three members of the Bongani Fassie group Jozi. He used to be a member of the Big Dudes’ band. He is a drummer, pianist, guitarist, and congas player. Rise (2013) and African Boys (1996), as well as several singles and collaborations, have been released by the hip hop star.
