Zandile Khumalo Sends Special Request To Ramaphosa On Senzo Meyiwa Trial

Zandile Khumalo who is one the key witnesses in the Senzo Meyiwa trial has send a special request to president Cyril Ramaphosa concerning the Senzo Meyiwa trial.

This comes after it was revealed that the Senzo Meyiwa trial will be starting over from scratch as a new judge Ratha Mokgoatlheng takes over. Previously, judge Tshifhiwa Maumela was presiding over this trial, but he has been handed a suspension letter by president Cyril Ramaphosa.

There are so many concerns that are being raised by many who have been following this Senzo Meyiwa trial. They argue that this delay is hurting the Meyiwa family who have patiently waited for years hoping to see justice prevailing.

Zandile Khumalo has now written to president Cyril Ramaphosa requesting that the trial be prioritised. She is asking that one courtroom should be earmarked and that the trial should sit weekly until a verdict has been reached.

Khumalo reacting to the suspension of judge Maumela said she has no knowledge whether this was a good or bad thing, but seeks that this development does not further delay justice from being served.

“Insults have been hurled, accusations have been thrown and theories have been created so it is in the interest of the country at large that this case is prioritised and fast tracked,” said Zandile Khumalo in her letter to president Cyril Ramaphosa.

Social critics however, argue that Zandile Khumalo is right, but she has addressed this matter to the wrong person. They said Ramaphosa cannot interfere with how courts are run due to the concept of separation of powers.
