Zandie Khumalo Giving Evidence Live

Kelly Khumalo’s sister Zandi Khumalo is currently giving live in the high court in Pretoria, in the murder trial of five men accused of killing the late Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa.

Senzo was shot dead in October 2014, in alleged robbery, the witnesses presented during the robbery, said it was a robbery gone wrong.

On Monday, the court was delayed, after Zandi called for a total media blackout, requesting that her testimony should not be broadcast in audio or visually. The case resumed on Wednesday, and Judge Tshifhiwa Maumela, rejected her request, made a ruling that her testimony will be broadcasted in audio only.

Judge Maumela, who handed down the sentence on Thursday, said the witness had not presented enough evidence to prevent her testimony being broadcast live.

The witness requested that her testimony is not broadcasted live, claiming that she is fearing for her, because she is performer, from time to time, she performs in public.

Senzo was killed in the presence of seven witnesses, including Kelly Khumalo, Zandi Khumalo, Ntombi Khumalo, Zandi’s then boyfriend Longwe Twala, two of Senzo’s friends Tumelo Madlala and Mthokozisi Thwala.

Tumelo and Mthokozisi have concluded giving evidence in court. Five men are tried for Senzo’s murder, however, all the accused have pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The accused are claiming to be used as scapegoats to protect the identity of the real killer. Former defence lawyer, Teffo Malesela, previously claimed that Kelly is the one who mistakenly shot Senzo, using a revolver belonging to Longwe Twala. The court heard that there was a scuffle between Senzo and the intruders.
