Following the slap he gave host and comedian Chris Rock, According to the Hollywood foreign Press, Will Smith said he was ready to accept any verdict by the Academy.

He wrote a statement saying:

” My actions at the 94th Academy Awards presentation were shocking, painful and inexcusable. The list of those I have hurt is long and includes Chris and his family many of my dear friends and loved ones, all those in attendence and global audiences at home, Smith said.

“I betrayed the trust of the Academy, I deprived other nominees and winners of their opportunity to celebrate and be celebrated for their extraordinary work. I am heartbroken and I want to out the focus back on those who desever attention for their achievements and allow the Academy to get back to the incredible work it does to support creativity and artistry in Film.” He wrote on a statement sent to the Academy and subsequently posted on his pages.

The Academy are really throwing Will Smith under the bus here as they have revealed that, Will Smith was asked to leave the awards show after smacking Chris Rock but he flat out refused.

His resignation means that he can no longer vote for the Oscar’s, however he can still get nominated for an award and gets to keep his Best Actor statue also.
