Seasoned actor Wright Ngubeni is one of South Africa’s child stars that grew up in front of our eyes in the late 1990s and early 2000s. He found stardom at an early age and is mostly know for starring as Jonathan Motene in the most-watched SABC1’s Generation soapie… Which prompts the question, where is he now?
WHERE IS JONATHAN MOTENE, AKA WRIGHT NGUBENI NOW?
While many people may think Wright Ngubeni made his break on the TV screens playing Jonathan Motene in Generations, he in fact made his first debut into television in the 1990s at the tender age of five, Sowetan Live reported. He kicked off his TV career when he appeared in SABC 2’s Kideo show and was also in YOTV. By 11 years old, he’s said to have bagged himself a leading role on a series named Street Life before he went on to act the role of Nokakhaba on the Human Cargo, Savanna News reported.
Since making his mark in the film and entertainment industry, Ngubeni has starred alongside several other prominent local actors on Big Up, Love Back, Rhythm City, Thuli No Thulani, Heist, and more.
“I’ve been in the public eye since the age of five, so all my life I’ve been known. I come from an era where the entertainment industry was not really structured for kids in this country. And then there was teenage television such as YoTV, at that point it was innate in me that I would be associated with some sort of TV role or name by people. However, the journey has been thoroughly fulfilling,” SowetanLive quoted him as saying.
