Skeem Saam is filmed at the Peu Communications studio in Johannesburg, despite the storyline suggesting that it is based just outside of Polokwane.
Skeem Saam is a long-running drama series that airs weeknights on SABC 1. The telenovela is set in the fictional town of Turfloop, which is said to be a small residential area located just outside of Polokwane. With a mix of local languages being used in the said cities, that has also been incorporated into the narrative and storyline, allowing for the characters to speak in Sepedi, English, isiZulu and siSwati.
Skeem Saam is produced by Peu Communcations, which is a television and film production company based in Johannesburg. The series is also filmed at the Peu Communications studio in Johannesburg, with many of the sets being man-made. Most notably, the series is filmed in the characters’ homes, schools, office spaces and restaurants.
