A special song fit for King of amaZulu is being brewed by local artists.
Local artists will soon present a song special dedicated to King Misuzulu, it is entitled Misuzulu Ingonyama YeSizwe composed by different artists including Lady Du, S’bu Banda, Ezby, Eugene Mthethwa, Phuzekhemisi, and Mbuzeni. Lady Du said that she is making history as the song will be played even when she is no more. She felt grateful to be part of the production, as she is fond of culture, tradition, and our African genres. Though some people take this as entertainment to her it’s another way of telling and preserving the African stories.
Dr. Musa Xulu told the media that the song is a way of welcoming the new King to his throne. Xulu further said that the song will officially be present at an event commemorating the burning of the capital of the Zulu empire after the Battle of Ulundi on 4 July 1879. The song marked the end of the sovereign Zulu state. King Cetshwayo was later captured by the British invaders and his general was ambushed and killed at Ondine in 1884. Xulu also spoke about the injury sustained by King Cetshwayo and who died in Showe and was later buried in Nkandla.
By composing the song they want the make sure that the house of Shaka lives forever. Many songs will be rendered including the amahubo which will be sung by Amabutho. The same event will have prayers, speeches, and the reading of academic papers. The traditional prime minister of the Zulu nation will deliver a keynote address on the 1879 Anglo-Zulu War. This special event will be held on the 4th of July at the KwaZulu-Natal Cultural Museum in Ulundi. This event is not to be missed as more history about the Zulu nation will be revealed.
