One of Uzalo’s interesting characters Emmanuel Mkhize, Screwdriver is not happy with the fact that people call him names whenever they see him walking on the streets. He plays a low-life character on the show and has poured out his emotions to the public regarding how his fans have been making fun of him, most of his fans are assuming that his real life is as messed up character on the show. Emmanuel was born and raised in the same hometown KwaMashu, North of Durban where the show storyline is set.
Apparently he is known as Simosibucayi so people are not only mocking him for his unique name, which seems to be a really bad name to some people as they are wondering which parents would give their children such a name despite the situation. His name means “an obvious bad situation” and other people would say such names can cause situations. Things have gotten worse now as he is being bullied or mocked for his way of life as well, he is still growing in the industry so he does not have much.
Of course what worse is the fact that he doesn’t even have a car so he has to face people while using public transport. This is so heart breaking to him because he has explained how he does not have a car and is forced to use public transport to travel, so sometimes when he gets into a taxi people throw painful remarks at him. Some people laugh at him while they don’t understand the fact that he is still trying to build his life and it’s not easy.
Just because they see him onscreen it doesn’t make him less of a human being and that is one thing that people should understand when it comes to celebrities. At this point he does not have things to show that he is working, so some people go as far as accusing him of misusing his salary because he appears on TV but he does not live a high life. He mentioned that even the kids in his neighbourhood no longer have respect for him, this is very sad and it’s one thing that ends up pushing people to do unexpected things. Even worse finding themselves in huge doubts, just to avoid being mocked or living in a place where people will keep bullying them
