Actress Thuthuka Mthembu, who plays Nonka in Uzalo’s death rumors, woke South Africa awake. The 23-year-old actress is said to have died from brain injuries sustained in a vehicle accident, claims that have left Uzalo fans and other cast members in shock.
While her admirers were rejoicing over the news that the actress had landed a role in the upcoming drama Grade 13, reports of Nonka’s death surfaced.
Poor as he is, the Nonka character despises the Xaba family. Njeza, Lily Dongwe, and Aunt MaDongwe reside with her in KwaMashu, as does her brother Njeza. For millions of South African young people, Nonka’s tale is a beacon of hope, proving that hard work and perseverance are the keys to success. Nonka was unflappable no matter what life threw at her. She married Sbonelo at a young age and was able to get out of the polygamous marriage. Despite being older and being teased by her peers for enrolling in a four-year college, she just graduated with honors after earning a Diploma.
When Nonka inherited Njeza’s shares in the distillery after graduating, she was able to compete on a level playing field with the big boys, bringing much-needed marketing expertise to the table.
Stained Glass Productions, the company behind the Uzalo event, quashed the death rumors and called them “false news” after a worried fan requested for clarification. She is the latest star and cast member of Uzalo to fall victim to internet fake news peddlers, following in the footsteps of Sbu (Simphiwe Majozi) and Lily (Noxolo Mathula).
Nonka, a native of Johannesburg, intends to start her own production firm and generate content.
As an actor with a background in both drama and the visual arts, my career aspirations have shifted from performing to starting my own production business and creating original material. In order to one day run a successful production firm, God has intentionally positioned me where I am now
