Uyajola 9/9’ presenter Jub Jub and ‘Shaka Ilembe’ star Nomzamo Mbatha

The cheating reality show, Uyajola 9/9 was the most-watched TV show on DStv in August followed by Mzansi Magic’s drama series Shaka Ilembe.

‘UYAJOLA 9/9’ SECURES FIRST POSITION
The latest figures from the Television Audience Measurement (TAM) by the Broadcasting Research Council of South Africa (BRCSA) reveal also reveal that the popular TV show Uyajola 9/9 scored 817 000 viewers while Shaka Ilembe received 812 000.

The cheating show which is presented by rapper and musician Jub Jub upstaged the Mzansi Magic series which was DStv’s most-watched show for more than two consecutive months.

The August viewing figures also reveal that Umkhokha: The Curse remains the most-watched telenovela on DStv with 774 000 viewers followed by Gomora with 654 000 and Gqeberha: The Empire with 651 000.


 

‘SHAKA ILEMBE’ SECOND SEASON
MultiChoice announced the return of the hit drama series Shaka Ilembe following the success of its first season which garnered a devoted fan base.

Season two will return with familiar faces such as producer and actress Nomzamo Mbatha, who plays Queen Nandi as well as new stars.

MultiChoice CEO General Entertainment Nomsa Philiso confirmed on Monday, 4 September:

“MultiChoice is really committed to telling the Shaka iLembe story, and this season 2 announcement confirms our intentions to honour the iconic figure of King Shaka with a continuation of his story on air.”
