Dear reader, if you gave read any of the articles before you’ll know that often I spend time unpacking the flaws of polygamy. There are so many I haven’t run out of ideas yet. Of course most of this criticism stems from one source; Musa Mseleku. His choice to air his life has opened him up for scrutiny on a near daily basis.

 

 

 

 

 

This weeks biggest pitfall? Encouraging his 20-year-old to start being a polygamist. I can’t stress enough how anyone younger than thirty hasn’t peaked emotionally and mentally. According to Men’s Health, “Although anyone over 18 years old is considered an adult, scientists argue that our brains don’t mature that quickly.”

Encouraging men on Mnakwethu to marry another wife is bad enough, but doing it to his own child is certainly negligible. He is barely into “adulthood” and his father is championing his cause for his own selfish reasons. His excuse for these things is always the same; he wants to expand his home. Now he’s doing it vicariously through his son.

This week he sat down with Mayeni and after complaining about her gym wear (yawn) he started upon the conversation of Mpumelelo impregnating a girl. Mayeni was clear. They only had to pay for damages because of what he has done. A reasonable way to go about things culturally speaking.

Mseleku quickly refuted that and claimed they would be paying lobola for the mother of Mpumelelo’s baby. She was clear about his age being a problem in this idea. But her husband had already spoken to Mpumelelo behind her back and was full steam ahead with marrying him to this girl.

I think it goes without saying that his relationship with his kids isn’t often explored but Sne is often treated like a pariah for having kids. But the second a boy child does the same thing, he is treated like King of the family. It is NOT okay.

I think for him to undergo marriage and having multiple girls, when he’s been shown to be very fickle and immature, is reckless. But his father doesn’t seem to mind this. Perhaps it is because the agenda is polygamy at all cost? Godspeed to all the girls who are and will be involved in this
