Entertainment Commentator Phil Mphela has revealed Umkhokha has been nominated for the upcoming 2022 SAFTA awards. Chris Q Radebe who is behind award winning productions like Isibaya, Uzalo and recently Isifiso is joined with Mandla Kanozulu on this nomination (Best Achievement In Script Writing). Rhythm World productions has hinted that they are considering on turning the show into a long running soapie. This has resulted in a lot of backlash from die hard fans considering how monotonous storylines become once a serie is turned into soapies.

People are quite excited about this nomination despite how Chris failed dismally to write an interesting storyline for Gomora. He was replaced by Chisanga Kabinga as he heads of to focus solely on his latest offering – Isifiso that aires every Monday on Mzansi Magic. Deli Malinga’s nomination was also welcomed with warm hands after her stellar performance on Umkhokha.
