Mafa Bavuma, the breakfast show co-host from Umhlobo Wenene FM, and social media influencer and gospel artist Betusile Mcinga will exchange blows in the boxing ring at their event “Battle of Personalities”.
The two have caused a buzz on social media about who could beat whom if they were to get physical, with their more than a million in combined followers weighing in for each side on their Facebook comments.
After some time teasing each other, the two have decided to finally take their battle to the ring in an effort to raise funds for their nonprofit organisations.
The two have confirmed they have been hitting the gym in preparation for their fight, which will kick off in September and run annually.
The event will be held in East London and run for three days from September 23 to 25. The first event will be a comedy show at the Guild Theatre, followed by an entertainment event in Mdantsane and the big boxing day on the Sunday.
Mcinga said all the three events would benefit upcoming comedians, artists and boxers.
Boxers who have uplifted the name of the province will also be given honorary awards.
“This started in 2020 during lockdown with me and Mafa always teasing each other on social media, so people suggested that we fight,” Mcinga said.
He said this was the perfect opportunity to bring back boxing.
“The province has produced so many legends, there are people who lifted the provinces name through this sport and groomed young people.
