A photo that two living legends of the kwaito music genre shared on social media had people buzzing in the comments.
Veteran kwaito artist Thebe Mogane is on the left. He is very different from the flashy, party-loving man he was known for in his prime, but in reality, he enjoys spending time with his family when he isn’t on stage performing for his fans.
And let’s not forget that since the start of his career in 1995, the musician has continually labored to release new music. Mogane certainly understands how to keep his infectious hooks on people’s lips, whether it be with his own Bula Boot or with features like Monate Mpolaye.
Another kwaito star who grew up in the streets of Soweto is Mdu Masilela, who is on the right. Mdu began writing songs in high school, and after matriculation, in 1998, he joined forces with fellow musician Mandla ” Spikiri ” Mofokeng to form the kwaito duo known as MM Deluxe.
Mdu has also been actively involved in the music industry, not only as a singer but also in other capacities including music composition and keyboard and bass playing, through which he has given opportunities to up-and-coming musicians like Sharon Dee and Mawillies.
Of course, in the past, these two legends were still children, but now that they are grown adults with families of their own, tweeps were surprised by this picture when they realized how much these legends have matured.
