Tweeps walk down memory lane as old VUZU clip resurfaces

It’s safe to say that the VUZU channel era was a moment in time that can never be repeated or copied. Not only was this era one of the biggest moments in South African popular culture history, but it was an era that birthed a plethora of stars, icons and trailblazers we know today. A video of an old VUZU episode has resurfaced on social media leaving many tweeps feeling nostalgic about the once loved channel.VUZU channel was a South African youth-orientated television channel that was launched on 1 July 2009. The channel was a medium for everything related to entertainment and popular culture. In addition to being a vessel for international entertainment news, the VUZU channel was also at the forefront of South Africa’s local street culture and entertainment.

 

 

 

Content on the VUZU channel often varied from music playlists, television series, international and local reality tv shows as well as social commentary with the iconic V-Entertainment show.

With VUZU we saw the rise of celebrities like Nonhle Tema, the late AKA, Da Les, Denise Zimba, Nomuzi Mabena, Cassper Nyovest, Boity, Bonang Matheba, Lalla Hirayama, Moneoa, L-Tido, Scoop Makhathini, DJ Speedsta, Mika Stefano and Riky Rick just to name a few.In an old clip that has resurfaced on Twitter may fans have shared how much they miss the VUZU era.
