Entertainment Commentator Phil Mphela has revealed that Uzalo has witnessed an audience bump from their slump in May ratings. Despite the effects of loadshedding they have managed to pull 6.1 million viewers glued to their screens as their new storyline unfolds. This is compared to their slump in 5.8 millions views in May. This is quiet remarkable because other shows have been battling to keep up with the new norm (check out our previous article for the ratings of Muvhango).

New characters, fresh storyline

Njinji has came in to shake things up, alongside the character of Vikizitha played by Siyabonga Radebe. Hope Mbele was also assigned a refreshing storyline as a liberal woman. This is just a peak of the iceberg there’s so much that has been happening this season. Are the ratings a true reflections of what viewers enjoy or they just have no other choice because they can’t afford premium services like Dstv? This is another take on this story that you need to keep in mind.
