Entertainment Commentator Phil Mphela has revealed that the latest ratings of idols show a huge decline. The new season peaked at 744K viewers in July, this is very low as compared to other seasons. We have been introduced to a new judges and venue this year. After Unathi Nkayi was exed, they have revamped the panel to include Somzi, JR and Thembi Seete. This week the top 20 will be announced and the live show will start next week.
Should the production be concerned?
Absolutely, as much as most shows have suffered the same fate (decline in viewers), Idols is a very big platform and it deserves just as much recognition. Sponsors are also cashing in on that. If there are no viewers, they cannot continue offering their financial backing.

People have also shared their opinions on this matter to indicate that the show has become boring and they need something new to spice up their Sunday night entertainment. I’m afraid but i have to agreed with them as much as it will have a huge impact for those that are in search of their breakthroughs.
