Tshedi Mholo was born on September 27, 1976 in South Africa. She is currently 45 years old as of 2021. She is the female lead singer for the well-known group Malaika, for those who have been living under a rock. The group had a lot of success, particularly in the early 2000s. The group was responsible for hits like 2 Bob, Mmatswale, and Never Change My Mind, among others.
The group began with three members at it’s initial inception, however, one of their band members, Jabu, died in the year 2008. Following that, the group attempted to make some music, but there was a lot of disagreement, conflict, ill-intention, and misunderstanding, which resulted in the group separating in a public space on bad terms.
Tshedi claimed that the other band member, Bongani, was booking and performing on Malaika’s behalf without her knowledge or consent. However, in 2019, they announced that they would be performing as Malaika, which elicited a lot of excitement from fans.
Tshedi announced her final departure from malaika a few days ago in a statement posted on her Instagram Account. But, unlike in the past, Tshedi stated that this decision is not motivated by negativity or animosity. She stated that she is at peace with the record labels and Bongani, and that she is simply taking her destiny into her own hands.Tshedi also stated that she is making this decision to reinvest in other aspects of her life, such as being a mother, a social activist, and a solo artist. She wished Bongani well and stated that if he ever decides to take in a replacement for her, she is fine with that as long as the Malaika legacy is preserved.
One thing is certain: the time for Malaika that we knew and loved has come and gone. Since Jabu’s death, the group has never been the same, and all of the feuds that have occurred have caused the entire group to fall apart. Best wishes to Tshedi and Bongani as they embark on their respective journeys.
