The publication reports that Gabuza’s lawyer, Themba Ngobeni argued that the footballer could only afford R2 000. He said that the striker has not yet been paid and has a unemployed wife and kids at home.

As a result, Magistrate Peggy Senne set the bail at R3 000. He was also ordered not to be in contact with the complainant, who is reportedly his ex-girlfriend.

Asked about the charges, Ngobeni said they do not have all the information as yet.

“We do not know the full details of what happened. We were told that the incident is about a cellphone that was broken. We do not know how it was broken,” Ngobeni said.
