Tributes pour as a legend is remembered. What are your memories of him?

Today we remember Vuyo Mbuli 10 years since his passing. It has been a decade since TV personality Vuyo Mbuli died of a pulmonary embolism but his legacy lives on in the hearts of those who were close to him. Mr sharp sharp, heita daaar! His footprint will never be erased in our hearts. Today SABC’s Morning Live and millions of South Africans are commemorating our legend in broadcasting. Personally I still remember watching him as we got ready for school in the mornings.

Vuyo Mbuli, who died at the age of 46, became one of South Africa’s most recognisable faces and voices as presenter of the morning show on SABC2 and as a talkshow host on SAfm radio. He struck the perfect tone for a morning breakfast show. He was not interested in scoring points or getting the better of his guests. Instead of closing them down with aggressive questioning, he would very gently, and so effortlessly it was easy to miss the skill involved, open them up. He was impartial. He treated all guests the same, no matter their colour, political affiliation or status. He never gave the impression that he was gunning for anyone.

As Morning Live remembers him today, some viewers have shared their fond memories of him. Here is what some had to say as tributes pour in:

@Da-angel He made me fall in love with morning live him and Leanne were simply the best duo. “Tinobathanganedza ngamapungo anamusi” pardon my Venda but he said that at the beginning of every morning show.

@MonicaMopeli Best presenter to ever grace our screens. What a gentleman. His dress sense is still unmatched till today. A master of his craft. And he could laugh. What a laugh!
