The KwaMashu based community radio station Vibe FM found on 94.7FM in and around Durban it expected to find a new home for their broadcasting service as the station revealed that they are planning to leave the place that they currently use which is K-Cap artistes center, which is in B section in KwaMashu.
This follows that the management of the center closed the gates so that not a single broadcaster of this station could enter because they owe three months rent. Broadcasters found themselves standing outside on Monday morning and were not allowed to enter because of the alleged debt the station is facing.
The source revealed that the station broadcasters are very upset, with this situation that has happened. What upsets them the most is not being told in advance what is happening, they saw when they come to work, said the source. The station manager of Vibe FM, Lucky Dlamini, said it is time for them to find a new broadcasting home.
“Apart from the fact that we have a problem of non-payment, of course we plan to leave that place because our relationship has problems caused by the issue of rent. So we are very sorry to everyone who was affected by shutting down the radio from the listeners to the broadcasters. “The thing that makes us unable to pay this money is that we have problems that our sponsors have revealed that make us unable to get money, so we can’t pressure them as financial problems exist in all areas and you may have them,” said Lucky.
