Several times, some South African social media users have complained bitterly about Tito Mboweni’s poor dressing habits. The former minister of finance is not unaware of what the public feels about him. In fact, sometimes he used to join in the humour and post pictures of his old and won out shoes. For the picture that is trending today about the former minister, his clothes were stained with baking powder. It seems as if the former minister and apartheid hero was coming out from an oven where he just baked a full bag of flour. The white powder or baking powder on his trousers was very visible and obvious that he couldn’t have said that he didn’t see it. Some people noted that it is his nature, saying that he seldom care about what he wears in the public. However, some people blame the photographer for not instructing him to dust off the white baking powder or even change the trousers before taking them the photographs.
Nevertheless, the photographer is not entirely to be blamed. Mr Tito Mboweni also posts ridiculous pictures of himself, even selfies that depict some clothings which a high-profile government officer shouldn’t be wearing. Some people lamented that while he was minister of finance, he used to wear such old and worn out coats abroad while attending meetings, thereby bringing ridicule to South Africa and South Africans as a whole. What does he care? The photographer may have informed him, but being someone who doesn’t care so much about his dressing, he could have told the photographer to just take the shot and never mind, after all, with Mr Tito Mboweni, nothing is impossible. A social media user Remark Beauty lamented on the clothes. She wrote, “Tito Mboweni is at it Again… He never once dress well”. Another person wrote, “Bab’Tito, did you leave straight from our bakery? That flour looks familiar”.
