This is the amount that was given to Mampintsha’s family by KZN.

The sad news of the death of veteran musician Mandla Maphumulo, also known as Mampintsha, reached the South African department of the entertainment industry on the 24th of December 2022. Mampintsha was a well-known name in the music industry.

This is the amount that was given to Mampintsha’s family by KZN.
Unfortunately, he did not recover from the relatively minor stroke and passed away as a result. The government of KwaZulu-Natal provided the family with some financial assistance so that they could attend to the arrangements for the funeral.

This comes after reports on social media suggested that it contributed R50 million toward covering the funeral expenses of the late musician who was a member of Big Nuz.

During the period of mourning for the kwaito star, the premier of KwaZulu-Natal, Nomusa Dube-Ncube, paid a visit to the star’s widow and other members of the family. In addition, the premier’s office and the eThekwini Municipality made a commitment to contribute fifty percent of the financial assistance needed to support the kwaito star’s funeral.

There were rumors that the KZN government had contributed R50 million to Mampintsha’s funeral, but those rumors were denied. The following is an excerpt from the response that was made public by the KZN government:

The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government is in the unfortunate position of having to respond to the false rumours that are being spread on the social media regarding its support for the dignified send-off of our Kwaito and Gqom Star Mandla “Mampintsha” Maphumulo. The rumours are circulating because the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government is supporting the dignified send-off.

The fact that the family is still in a period of mourning, as is appropriate under the Ubuntu philosophy, is the source of our regret. During this time, it is necessary for us to offer the family our support and respect as they come to terms with the death of a member of their own flesh and blood.

In addition to this, the response provided some details regarding the contributions made by the government of KwaZulu-Natal. The provincial government footed the bill for the two-day send-off, which came to a total of R320 000. The amount of money that was actually spent on Mampintsha’s funeral is calculated to be R640 000, assuming that KZN paid for fifty percent of the expenses that were reported.

The following is an excerpt from the statement:

In the interest of maintaining openness and accountability in government, we would like to make it clear that the following types of assistance are being offered to the family by the Provincial Government:

The government of KZN urged residents of the province not to misuse social media. In addition to this, they cautioned the people living in KZN to not believe everything that they read on social media.
