High schools used to be educational institutions that were so fun back in the days. Many educatees used to take education serious. It was so important to them to the point where they pestered their class teachers with questions when they needed to fathom certain things from their textbooks that gave them problems.
Does the youth of today still enjoy education like 70s and 80s used to? Candidly, the 70s and 80s did not disrespect their teachers by swearing at them, not doing homeworks, and fighting their teachers or throwing tantrums right in front of their fellow pupils. They did not even backchat at the educators for they knew they would be whipped.
Nowadays teachers live in fear. They know that some of the learners are affiliated with gangsters. The learners of today are troublesome and most of them don’t regard education as something that can help to brighten their futures eventually. They think they know it all.
In connection with learners being troublesome, the police and Department of Education paid three high schools a visit on Friday and made shocking discoveries. All the three schools are based in Barberton, Mpumalanga.
Below are some of the terrifying things they found :
It seems that schools have turned into places where pupils sell drugs. They turned them into battlefields too. This is the reason why I said most educatees no longer take education serious. If they did they wouldn’t carry dangerous weapons to school. Carrying weapons to school is like carrying a gun to church.
Prior to democracy, learners were not carrying guns, dagga and knives to schools. They were straight and did not have so many rights.
The human rights somehow messed up everything. Even at home young people disrespect their parents for they know their right more than they know rules of grammar and mathematics.
Corporal punishment needs to be brought back. A parent can no longer discipline his/her child. When he/she does the child claims the parent is abusive.
Young pupils of today don’t understand how important education is. In fact, they think they are untouchable. They are only abusing their rights.
Education is the key to success. Many people wish they could go back to school because when they were still schooling, they wasted their time taking teachers for fools and not taking heed to what they were teaching them. They thought they had everything figured out, but everything turned out to be the opposite. Time wasted will never be regained.
There are no black and white certainties in life.
